Welcome to Filthy Habit!

Some important things to know for your first class or lesson:

Level One Wheel Class

  • Feel free to park in the lot behind the building off the alley. You can come in through the back door at the top of the stairs.

  • Clothing: When we throw we straddle the wheels with one leg on both sides, so skirts and shorter shorts don’t really work.

  • Tools: You will need tools! Search for “beginner wheel throwing pottery kit” online.

  • It’s quite a bit harder to throw clay with long nails. You may want to shorten your style.

  • Drinking coffee before class can be counter-productive. Please come prepared to slow down, breathe and relax… :)

    Private Lessons

No tools are required for private lessons. Please arrive at the appointed time. It may not be possible to admit you if you come early on a busy day.

Clothing: When we throw we straddle the wheels with one leg on both sides, so skirts and shorter shorts don’t really work.

Please wear clothing that you don’t mind getting a bit dirty!

    Level Two Wheel Class

    You will need:

  • At least two Speedball 7.5” square bats

  • A Kemper RB4 wood rib

  • Optional: An upgraded trimming tool such as this

    Hand Building Class

No special tools are necessary for the first class. We will discuss gathering tools for your kit throughout the session.
